Jeff Yass’s Billionaire Influence in Pennsylvania’s AG Race Threatens Democracy At Large

Jeff Yass funnels millions into PA’s Attorney General race to back a right-wing agenda, undermining one person, one vote

PHILADELPHIA – In response to reporting by the Philadelphia Inquirer detailing the millions of dollars spent by billionaire Jeff Yass to undermine democracy and influence Pennsylvania’s attorney general race, the All Eyes On Yass coalition released the following statement:

Miracle Jones, director of legislative affairs for 1Hood Power and member of the All Eyes on Yass coalition, said:

“Jeff Yass epitomizes the growing influence of billionaires and corporations on politics and policy, using his immense wealth to drown out the voices of everyday Pennsylvanians. It’s outrageous that one billionaire can wield the kind of unchecked power that distorts the fundamental principle of our democracy: one person, one vote.

“This is bigger than any one election: Yass is bankrolling a political takeover that could reshape our country by replacing the values we hold dear—freedom, justice, and choice—with fear, control, and retaliation via the far-right’s Project 2025.

“Every individual should have an equal voice in government, which is why the All Eyes On Yass coalition is committed to exposing Yass’s influence, mobilizing the public and politicians to reject his strings-attached donations, and restoring a democracy where politicians answer to the people—not billionaires.”

WHO IS JEFF YASS
Billionaire Jeff Yass, Pennsylvania's richest man who has made his money through finance and technology investments like TikTok, is the single largest donor in Pennsylvania — spending more on statewide elections than the top ten corporate PACs combined since 2020. He funds elections through a network of political action committees (PACs) and lobbying groups that influence legislation. In particular, Yass-affiliated PACs and lobbying groups have pushed for the expansion of school vouchers, which would take money for public schools and instead put it towards private and religious schools.
